Who Is The Zion Company?

In case you missed our social media announcement, Mirror Image has now become The Zion Company.

This is for three reasons:
  1.  We felt for a while that Mirror Image, though it is a cool name, didn’t quite give a sense of identity as to who we are. We had to always explain the name in reference to 2 Corinthians 3:18 and it just seemed like it wasn’t fitting.
  2. Jordan and I began to sense a refining in our vision, which began after our firstborn, Zion was born. I thought of how my son’s name was prophetic and I started seeing 1222 everywhere, which speaks of Hebrews 12:22, “You have come to Mount Zion, city of the living God...” The Lord then began to show me a “Zion company” of those who he’s called to live from heaven to earth. The mission then came forth, “Engaging Heaven, Transforming Earth.” To me this communicates more than a ministry, it's a movement with a mission.
  3. Finally, an opportunity to register our ministry for tax-exempt status came and it felt as if I were at a crossroads with an invitation to follow God with fresh vision. So I took the plunge and decided to run with him in a new direction.

The question now is who is The Zion Company?

There are two key components to consider with this heavenly company. To me it's all about empowerment and access.

The New Covenant brings us into an empowered position with Christ. Unlike those in the Old Testament where worship was relegated to a physical temple, we now become temples in which God indwells, thus empowering us as a new creation race to live in an empowered state of righteousness and power over darkness.

When we look back at Sinai and contrast it to where we are now we see the people had Moses who was used by God as a leader, more specifically a prophet, who would relay what God was saying to them on mount Sinai. Descending from the mountain, Moses' face shined in the glory of the Lord. Those following stood in holy dread as they awaited to hear what the man of God had experienced up top. This all sounds wonderful except there's a problem; instead of the people knowing their God and hearing him for themself, they depended upon Moses to hear God for them.

Today we see a similar pattern in our churches. We have turned pastors and leaders into our own personal Moses, and oftentimes the tendency is to attend church Sundays and Wednesdays seeking fresh bread from our leaders. Many want to know what God is saying... But would prefer the Church prophet to be their source of encouragement instead of directly approaching God in secret on their own.

The Zion company functions differently. They know they don't need a Moses to lead them by the hand. We have been invited to ascend the hill of the Lord to meet with Christ ourselves.

So what am I saying, we don't need leaders in the Body of Christ? Certainly not! What I'm saying is, biblical New Covenant leaders in the Church lift their congregation up into an empowered position to see and become all Christ has made them to be. This includes learning how to hear God's voice, understanding spiritual gifts, how to overcome the enemy, and ultimately have a vibrant relationship with God.

Jesus modeled this in his ministry when he brought Peter, James and John up with him on the mountain when experiencing the transfiguration. In the New Covenant we don't wait at the bottom of the mountain. We ascend and all of our faces shine because we all may collectively experience the glory of God together. We all get to know Jesus. We all hear his voice and can be used by him.

This leads me to my second point. We have access to the Holy presence of God.

Zion, translated from Greek means "the highest of places, the dwelling of God." In a mystical sense, there is a part of us that is with him in Zion now. We have come! We read in Ephesians 2:6 that we are seated with Christ in heavenly realms. Likewise, Colossians 3:3 states, “you have died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”

I love Romans 5:2 in the Amplified translation.

"Through Him we also have access by faith into this [remarkable state of] grace in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying] the glory of [our great] God..."

Jesus patterned this heavenly lifestyle while on earth. He said to Nicodemus, “no one has ever gone up to heaven, but there is One who has come down from heaven- the Son of Man [Himself], Who is (dwells, has his home) in heaven.” John 3:13 AMPC

He lived on earth, yet engaged with the unseen realm of heaven where the Father is. I believe this is a great key in the life and ministry of Jesus. He only did what he saw the Father doing (John 5:19). Where did he see the Father? In heaven of course!

I believe heavenly solutions to world needs are being given to the sons of God. We are a heavenly people, and no, the classic cliche still doesn’t fit. It has been said that we can’t become so heavenly minded that we’re no earthly good, but this my friends is impossible when postured correctly.

The more heavenly minded the more dynamic and transformative our ministries will be. We are only as fruitful as our willingness to abide in him.

Perhaps you’re not a mystical person and “engaging Heaven” sounds spooky or non-Christian. Well, we can all agree with Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:33, we are to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and all its righteousness. And we are to pray “thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

The Zion Company is more than a personal ministry; it’s a movement of Spirit-born sons of God who will shape society with Kingdom influence. We’re taking nations with the presence and power of Zion!

Zion is “the city of the living God...” This communicates community and expresses the collective nature of heaven. It’s not one man or woman, it’s all men and women simultaneously seeing the goodness and glory of God together. It’s life in the Spirit!

“And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” Isaiah‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭

To be continued.

Bless you, Alex! I just finished reading your Book yesterday and have been asking the Lord to recalibrate my understanding of what it looks like to live from Heaven to earth and develop a Kingdom mindset! This whole concept makes sense and I’m grateful (just wish I’d learned years ago...) That said, at 56, I’m willing to learn!
Now, I just need some new hiking boots to ascend the mountain! Ha!
